17 strong wind/current/tide a wind etc that moves with great force: strong spring tides
18 strong language speech or writing that contains a lot of swearing: This film is not suitable for children under 12 as it contains strong language.
19 strong accent the way that someone pronounces words that shows clearly that they come from a particular area or country: a strong German accent
20 strong nose/chin/features a nose etc that is large and noticeable, especially in an attractive way: She has the same strong features as her mother.
21 a strong pound/dollar/mark etc a currency (=the type of money used in a country) that does not easily lose its value compared with other currencies
22 600/10,000 etc strong (only after number) used to give the number of people in a crowd or organization: the 70,000 strong South African Domestic Workers Union
23 strong verb technical a verb that does not add a regular ending in the past tense, but may change a vowel
24 have a strong stomach to be able to watch something unpleasant without feeling sick or upset: It's a very violent film. You'll need a strong stomach to sit through it.
25 be still going strong to continue to be active or successful, even after a long time: I'm glad to see that the printing classes are still going strong.
26 be a bit strong especially BrE informal to be too severe or extreme: Describing him as “evil” was a bit strong, I thought.
